Ranhill Power Division (“Ranhill”) together with Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (“DBKK”) joined forces to clean-up the beach along Likas Bay, a popular hotspot for Kota Kinabalu community. Mr Jacob Galium, Pegawai Jabatan Kesihatan Persekitaran DBKK, attended the event on behalf of the Kota Kinabalu Mayor.

The event started at 6.30am and took 3 1/2 hours to complete. The beach cleaning activity was part of Ranhill’s corporate citizenship initiatives to create awareness on environmental preservation.

”As a company with presence in Sabah, we would like to contribute more to the community surrounding our plants. Likas Bay was picked as it is a favourite place for the locals to hang-out with family and friends. We would like to help preserving its environment to maintain the cleanliness along the beach so they could continuously enjoy spending their time here”, said Dr. Zahrul Faizi, Chief Executive Officer of Ranhill Power Division.

The event was attended by more than 150 Ranhill employees and their families. They collected litters along the beach from Teluk Likas Pantai 2 to Anjung Selera Tanjung Lipat. After the event, the participants left feeling happy and looking forward to the next awareness campaign by Ranhill.
