Ranau, Saturday, 13th July 2019 - Ranhill Powertron Sdn Bhd (RanhillPower), one of the subsidiaries of Ranhill Holdings Berhad, contributes their energy and expertise to the community in Sabah which benefits not only the local community but also the environment surrounding it.
In line with RanhillPower's focus on the development of Green and Renewable Energy initiatives, the company has built a Micro-Hydro-Solar Hybrid system with a capacity of 10kW at Kampung Walou, Ranau, Sabah.
RanhillPower, Chief Executive Officer, Ir. Dr. Zahrul Faizi Hussien said "The implementation stage has begun in early 2018 and the project has reached its Commercial Operation Date (“COD”) in April 2019. The 10kW system will supply the electricity and benefits more than 150 villagers."
He added that, the project was funded through the “Akaun Amanah Industri Bekalan Elektrik” (AAIBE) under the Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environmental and Climate Change (MESTECC). In addition, RanhillPower also collaborates with local organization known as TONIBUNG, a Non-Governmental Organization to identify suitable and potential site for the proposed development of electricity supply projects through the Micro-Hydro-Solar Hybrid system.
Apart from social responsibility in developing the infrastructure of electricity supply to rural communities, RanhillPower also plays a role in the development of Green and Renewable Energy in Malaysia. In line with the Government's efforts and vision to achieve twenty (20) percent of Green Energy and Renewable Energy in Malaysia by 2025. Such projects and efforts will continue in the future in other necessitating area around Sabah.
The Completion and Officiation Ceremony for the 10kW Micro-Hydro-Solar Hybrid System was officiated by Honorable Miss Isnaraissah Munirah Binti Majilis, Deputy Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change (MESTECC) and attended by The Honorable Mr. Jonathan Yasin, Ranau Member of Parliament as well as local government agencies of Ranau.
